How much "Vox" is in Mesa Express 2:25?

soulohio, I can't make any statements regarding the Trans Atlantic. I have not played through one. Every once in a while when I stop in at my local Mesa dealer, he stocks at least one of very thing Mesa has in production, I have never focused on the TA. Don't get me wrong, I love T&A :p but the Trans Atlantic has never been on my radar.
Anyway, good luck deciding which amp to purchase. You know it's kind of funny, years ago I wondered why some guys had so many different brand amps, cabs and guitars. Now I know!

If you want lovely chime and gorgeous semi-cleans, then the 5:25 has that in spades. Never tried the 525 in 12" but I can tell you my 525 with the stock 10" (which gets very little love here and on other boards) does beautiful chime!

That said, whether it is "vox enough" is up to you. Personally, I don't care. As has been stated, if you want "that" tone then get "that" amp ...done. Why screw around? I love my 6L6 tones from my DC5 for different reasons (though note that I have made significant tube substitutions in all my Boogs). I would never think of trying to get one of the tones from the other. Buy what you like to fit the tone in your head. The 525 does it very well for me.

I dunno. I just went to the Vox AC30 Demos pages http://www.voxamps.com/support/demos/

I can make my Express 5:25 1x12 sound like that NP. Those sounds are exactly why I purchased the 5:25, but are on the Vox site. Go figure.

I've been pretty happy with the "clean - chimey" sounds my Express offers. Everyone seems to be playing Vox amps these days. I went with something a little different. I am hearing new "clean" tones at the 5 watt setting ( both clean and blues channels)
