OK, I know this question is sort of silly, but what is the deal with Mesa and updates? What is the criteria? Will they do a Mark V b?

But the Mark IV B came out after 2 years. However a lot of those changes were very practical and not tone related. There was a tightening of channel 3 but the rest was all practical AC cord, reverb, loop.

We have to keep in mind that Mesa firmly believes that they have already achieved the goal of recreating the IIC+ and IV, so much so they wrote some pretty antagonizing words in the manual. Is it practical to think that they will completely re-do the amp to please the Mark IIC+ snobs on the forum? I doubt it. I saw gain deli complaining about the pull deep feature, but the V is also doing the Mark IV, which did not have a pull deep, some people like the IV over the C+. As if the C+ should have priority over other sounds?

I honestly believe the amp is as best as it can be for a NEW Mark series. It's not an old amp (C+), it's not a recto or a Road King (ala people looking for more loops and ****** gain sounds), it's not the Lone Star.

Some of us havin been saying the same thing for a long time. Once you stop expecting this amp to be a different amp, it is the perfect amp.

I'm tired of the bitching, we all know now it doesn't sound exactly like C+ or a IV or a I, shame on Mesa for doing this to us. If you're not happy go buy those amps.

I dont think they'll revamp the tone (othre than brighten mark1). Im waiting for the revision just to be sure all the bugs are worked out. Mark V+!!! :D

I was told by the guys at Mesa Hollywood that there are no plans for a mark Vb. I did ask them that question when I purchased mine. They said that's the reason for the long delay between the Mark IV and V release. They wanted to make it right the first time, unlike the RK.

If Mesa does make a revision, I'm glad I got the original. This amp is unbelievable. I did have some bug's.....but in the end..... I made the best decision ever in guitar gear with the MKV. EVER. I am not a MKIIc+ or MKIV owner. Never heard em' first hand. If it's not exactly the same, I could care less.

Every tone I ever wanted is included.

When I was on the phone with Mike Bendinelli a few weeks ago regarding my MkIII, I told him that I liked the Mark V, and that it had its OWN thing going on. It does not sound exactly like my 1978 Mark I did, and does not sound exactly like my C+ amps either. It still is a great sounding amp, especially for the price. I did not care for the use of the word "snob" in the MkV manual, and I like it even less when it is used on this forum.

Dude, what crawled up your ass? NO one here was bitching. And furthermore, no one even mentioned the C+ mode.

RK and RKII were what? 2 years apart? Less? And the RKII Ver. 2 was months.

I bet there's an update coming at some point. The question will be whether it will be one of Mesa's more stealthy "silent" updates or if they purposely market it as a new updated model or not.

Either way my money is on some sort of update if history is any judge... :D

Wrong, the clean channel was improved and possibly other subtle tweaks as well.

What does that matter? And no, the RKII had a different clean circuit all-together as compared to the original RK. Also, the Mark V is considerably different than the MkIV even though it's a Mark. I expect a Mark Vb this year.

This amp has been in the design phase for five years or so Much longer than some of the other amps Mesa has built. I think Randy took as much time as he wanted and needed. I talked to my rep today and he said there were some new ideas and amps on the burner, but no V update.
