You had mentioned in another thread that if the levels were set correctly on the GT-10 there really was not much tone loss.(with 4 cable method) Overall playing with the GT-10 in the store with basic functions and such, the unit is very easy to use but I did not get into level setting. How difficult is it to correctly set levels on this unit? I have read from many frustrated folks on other forums having difficulty setting levels. Thanks, any input would be appreciated.

Hey- with the ED, to set the levels here is the sequence-
1- dial in your amp
2- hook up GT10 4CM
3- INITIALIZE a patch with all effects off (it is in the WRITE menu)
4- with GT hooked up and turned on, match the GT effect loop send and return levels to match the volume of the amp without any outboard gear connected.
A little quality time spent in these steps will yield a highly effective all-in-one multi-FX from a GT. Also, if done correctly, when engaging an amp model, there should be little discernable difference in volume. With the 4CM, you can now place effects anywhere you want them, in each patch.
Let me know if I can be of further help- PM me

Hey
Thanks so much for the reply. Sounds pretty simple. I was under the impression there were menus and menus to go through setting levels.
Thanks again. If I end up going this route, I will probably be asking more questions. Right now, the ED sounds so good I am using effects but I am sure I will want to in the near future.

I will always have a GT for backup and ampless gigs, but I am piecing together a very capable pedalboard for the Dyne. Quite simply, the Dyne is the best sounding amp I have ever played, let alone owned- I love just playing guitar like I haven't in a long time- and it deserves a killer assortment of top-shelf effects.
If you go the GT route, it does take a little time, but not as hard as some have made it sound, and well worth your efforts- I like the GT series.

Might be a stupid question but will the GT-10 switch from clean to hi and low on the ED?

With a mono-mono 1/4" in the amp control, you can switch between clean and low; with the stock ED footswitch cable, you can switch between clean and hi.

From my experience, you have a choice of switching either between Clean and Low Gain; or Clean and High Gain, depending how you set the position of the three way switch on the front of the amp.

The cable will ultimately be the determining factor- I am pretty sure...

Using a stereo cable (tip/ring/sleeve like the one that comes with the footswitch), you basically have a choice of running it two different ways:

The first way is for it to switch between Clean and Low Gain (call this Option 1).
The second way is for it to switch between Clean and High Gain (call this Option 2).

The way that you control which of these two options you're going to be using is how you leave the amp's three-way switch. If you leave it in the 'down' position, it is Option 1. In the 'center' position, it is Option 2. (fyi, the 'up' position keeps the amp on the High Gain channel regardless of what the footswitch tells it to do).

Edited: Now that I'm home, I've tested it again myself and edited my post for clarification.
