Hey guys, been away from the board for a while. Wondering if you guys have gone through the circuits and figured out what the difference between the IV's and V's are. I just came back to mine and still find myself turning the 80hz way up and the other sliders down to get the balance i like for channel 3. I'd like to have more power in the low lows so I could have more flexibility.
Wasn't there something about the IV having a different cap values in the EQ?

I'm not sure there's that dramatic a difference.

I spent two hours recently A/B'ing a IV and V through the same cab, and they sounded exactly the same on the same settings. I was thinking about buying the IV, since some people claimed it has the better lead channel, but playing them side-by-side convinced me to stick with the V.

As you can see, I have all the amps. I have searched high and low and the iv has much more suck and boom +80hz and -750. There are obviously changes in the circuit. I love the IIc+'s mode clarity but it needs another 1/8th to quarter inch of length to the 80hz to really get the resonance right and maybe a bit more scoop. I always find myself compensating with the other controls to get enough bass. I'd like to be able to have too much bass, and dial it back like the IV rather than have just enough and be right on the verge and having to keep the mid sliders down lower than i want. Usually the 750 ends up right at the bottom or an eighth of an inch from it and the bass slider right near the top and I'd like to have more travel room. If you use the Mark ivb, even without the EQ, to me, it starts out like a mark V scooped.

What cabs?

I had a similar experience using the Mark IIC+ mode with a Recto 4x12 (didn't seem to have enough bass), however switching to an Orange 4x12 produced less low bass and more upper bass, which made the 80Hz slider function much better/stronger. I'd guess that Mesa's Stiletto/Traditional 4x12 would probably produce similar results.

Also, how to you feel the IIC+ mode compares to your IIC+? I didn't really like that mode when I first bought my Mk V... however now that I've changed cabs it's become my favourite due to how crunchy and aggressive the voicing gets compared to the Mk IV mode's more low midrange chugging sound.
