Hey folks! I am definitely not a tube expert - it would be more appropriate to refer to me as a tube noob...in fact, it wasn't until I read through the owner's manual for my Dual Rectifier Roadster that there was such a thing as bias settings and so forth. I'd like to know the following:
1) Do preamplifier tubes require any type of "biasing", or are they pretty much plug-and-play, right across the board, so long as the same tube number is used?
2) With an amplifier that uses a non-adjustable bias setting, such as the Mesa/Boogies, what would happen typically if the "Mesa" tubes were replaced with ones from another company, such as JJ or Tung Sol?
