Well, I have this b -> c+ head, and I'm told it's the wrong transformer in it. Can anybody help me confirm this? This is a real c+, right? All the wires to the voltage switch are missing, so I'm assuming someone was in there at some point to replace the tranny. There's some initials in blue sharpie by the tranny that are similar to the "KDC+" too. Here's some more pics of the numbers and whatnot.

And the obligatory shot of it on top of my cool toolbox.

Here's the initials by the transformer and the overall wiring. Also, the clipped leads on the export switch.

Hey,

where are you in chicago? Did you call Mike B and ask him about it? I would answer if I could, but I'm not that knowledgable... but that tranny does look small. Mesa might be able to tell you what year that tranny was for... which mark series amp

I live in Montgomery but work in Villa Park, hang out in Lisle/Naperville, Elmhurst and Joliet.

I haven't called Mesa yet just because I didn't really wanna bug them and waste their time if I can find the info on the internets. They do have real work to do, as apposed to us, just drooling on our keyboards.

Just so everybody else can see it, here's what George wrote in my ad in the classified section:

Hey Dave that's a very interesting IIB to C+ upgraded amp you have here!

It has a MkIII Xport Power Tranny (561100) and a MkIII Simul OT (562003)

Looks like it was upgraded from a IIB sometime during or after '87 based on the year the PT was made (1987).
(Fwiw the Simul OT was made in '85).

It has the right pre-amp board for a IIC+ Simul non reverb model (SP-11A).

With the mix of MkIII and IIC+ parts it is a very interesting amp.

I think that pretty much answers my question. :D

Yeah, its a B to C+ upgrade. the transformer were updated with the mod. There 100% mk III simlu Transformers. There 100% still Awesome!!! the 561100 is the same as the c+'s 101. Not as big as a 105.But thats kinda Cool!!

the serial being in the 8XXX's makes it a B.

plus B to C+ writtten on it gives it away. haha
