Guys...I Believe I have a Mark IIC+

All this time I thought what I owned was a Mark III, but then I stumbled across this site: http://homepage.mac.com/mesaboogie/IICPlus.html and was amazed by my findings!

To Quote the site:

"A true Mark IIC+ will have a "+" over the power cord and Mike Bendinelli's initials on the back below the cord and on the bottom of the amp. As well, on the side of the amp chassis will be the MESA amp code DRG. As well, the date of the amp's manufacture will be written on the bottom."

Here's the "+" on top of the power cord:

My power cord is covering most of "MB's" initials, but rest assured it is in fact written in black marker "MB".

To quote the site again:
"To have the definitive proof that an amp is in fact a IIC+ claim, one must first ascertain the above, but to prove beyond a doubt, there is a simple effects loop play test."

I followed these simple instructions and the result was "no change" when I adjusted the lead drive control!

SO I DEFINITELY OWN A MARK IIC+!!!!

But wait!?!?!? My Serial # is 15946.

To quote the site yet again:
"To further validate the IIC+ claim, look for the serial number. It should be between 125XX and 14XXX, but there is variability with the low end of this range as the exact start of the IIC+ and end of the IIC was in the 12,3XX range."

Also, my face plate has the "Pull Rhythm 2" silk screened on it.

Other than the "Pull Rhythm 2" on top of the 'middle' button, I have all the front panel of the MARK IIC+

I am semi-excited (for now) and I need help to verify my amp is a IIC+. Should I call Mike at Mesa/BOOGIE as ask him?

That's a mark 3. Looks like somebody put the + there for some reason. The mark 2's have complete different circuit boards.

also, before mark III's the EQ circuitry was on a little board attached to the side of the chassis but on mark 3's it is incorporated on the main circuit board. Your's doesn't have any extra little circuit board on the side of the chassis. Look up some threads with gut shots of c+'s and you'll see the differences right away.

So then, how do you explain the definitive proof test:

Mine checked out, so isn't it definitive?

i'm no expert but I believe the C+ effects loop was incorporated into the mark3's as well. It only makes sense that they would've kept it, at least for a while longer before finding something better to do with efx loops.

It a III because the way your 200uf 300v caps where, on the IIC+ it the 30uf 500v that is right in that place so like timv said The mark II's have complete different circuit boards.

my mk III blue stripe has the DRG written on the side of it and inside..And it passed the IIc+ test..that test was only meant for II's ..All mk III have a very simular lead channel clone to the C+..You have a Mk III + ....early mk III had No stripe,a black dot or a '+' mark above the power cord..you got the +... they are all the same..you might have the 105 tranny in it if it's a 100/60 or a simil but apart from that it's a normal looking mk III black stripe...

Thanks to all who have replied! I knew that it was too good to be true, but I thought I'd ask first! I guess this still means that I'm in the market for a IIC+...LOL!

if your amp is a silmu it will most likely have the same trannys as the C+ due to the low serial..if it has the 105 tranny all the better... take it to mike and get him to + it...i am sure you will see some sort of improvement..

Thanks 'Shep'! I'm not quite sure what a 105 tranny is? How can I identify it?

the power transformer is pretty rusted so I can't see the number...if it starts with "105," this means you got the transformer that offers the most headroom out of any mesa amp ever built (although i'm sure BB can think of another). That transformer doesn't sag too much even under the loudest conditions, meaning you get those tight metallica riffs with ease.

If you want that rusty look to stop .. wipe it over with a rag with some WD-40 on it..or something like that..you only need very little it just needs to cover it..the trannys on my mesa are in prefect condition because on this trick..

Please, do not use WD-40. It does not evaporate as fast as Naptha or Denatured Alcohol. WD-40 is Kersosene and oil and may seep into the laminates. Bzz, Bzz, bzz....

I don't use wd-40 i didn't know what you call inox..the closes thing that reminds me to it.. inox is made to go on things electric to stop corrion.. it's non con-ductive and works a charm..is that ok ed?.. whats Naptha
