One of the reasons prices fluctuate is because the general population has no idea a MK IIC+ is more valuable than other similar Boogies. They also have no idea how to tell what kind of Mark amp it is. As for high prices, an asking price has little bearing on what something is worth.

Being off the radar of many people (even some music stores and dealers) you have a chance of finding a bargain if you are lucky. This is unlikely with an old Marshall, Fender, or Vox.

I think prices are pretty stable for IIC+'s that are advertised correctly. If you had one or two a week go up on ebay at no reserve and run for the full 7-days you wouldn't be seeing $1600 imbuya combos or $3000 plain jane heads. I think we would find that the prices are pretty stable and would probably keep slowly climbing.

I absolutely agree.

The reason it's so valuable is mostly from people like those that are on the board that talk it up so much. I mean hell, I have never played one but I would still love to own one. The only way I would buy would be if i found one for a great price (1500-1700 with all options) but just like everything you have to be patient in order to get a reasonable price.

What do you reckon the equilibrium price would be as a result? Around $2500?

I bought a 1976 Gibson Explorer re-issue in 1978. It was mahogany and was the ballsy-ist guitar I every played! I was young and stupid and sold it for $500 and bought a new Les Paul Custom that weight 500 lbs and sucked! I have regretted ever selling that sweetheart and miss her more than any lost love! As I type to you this information from the family room computer I look over to the other side of the room and see a beautiful mint condition MKIVB that will never ever be sold. I've learned my lesson and will never make the same mistake again.
