I recently got my Mark IV, and I'm quite sure mine is the long head. It's an early version B head (serial number 6547).
I've tried searching about this subject on this board, and haven't found any real information. According to Mesa website, the short head is 18-3/4 inches and the medium head is 22-½ inches. Mine is 23-½ inches. The seller I bought the head from also called it a long head.
So I guess that settles the question whether long heads were made at some point. Not that any of this is that important, just thought someone might like to know.
