I have searched the forums and the soloutions offered sadly don't work.

I have a Goto vintage tremolo system and the arm flops about.
It doesn't work to glue it one place
Springs knacker the threads
Plumber tape wears out quickly

Any ideas

Does the tremolo have a steel or die-cast aluminum/zinc inertia block?

If it's steel, putting a small spring in the hole won't ruin the threads.

If it's die-cast, it'd be good to replace it with a Callaham steel inertia block. He uses a Delrin bushing in the hole to keep the arm snug.

It will also improve the sound of the guitar over a die-cast block.

Is the tremolo arm a pop-in removable type? If so, the plastic washers may be worn out. They can easily be replaced with new ones.
