I just auditioned for a new metal bad thursday night and it was the first
time i got to hear my f30 in a band setting. even the 1x12 held its own
against a 5150-2, and a VERY loud drummer. not alot of bass, but it
screamed very nicely. they asked me back last night so
i decided to bring my 4x12. for some reason, the whole night, no matter
what i tried, it sounded farty and flubby and not very loud. so after rackin
my brains with different speaker combos and eq settings i finally gave up.
after we were done practicing i looked in back and noticed one of my
power tubes was half way out of its socket! it was at an angle so like
2 or 3 of the pins were out, but the rest were in. shut down the power,
popped it back in and WHAM, sounded GREAT again. TIGHT bass and
about 3 times louder. i love this amp......

WEEE! When I started to read your post I thought "hey, nice that the f-30 works in a band-situation!"......read a little more......."SH..!" .......and a little more.......once again; GREAT! About a week ago I bought an f-30, and I have only played it once with a drummer. Sounded fine, but we were not playing that loud. Good to hear real world experience with the f-30! Also got a single recto, which I use with my band (rock). The combo is more for practising at home, or to take with me gigging small places when I have the ability to mic it. But good to hear it works for you!

my friends f 50 1x12 is very loud as well and we're about the loudest band around here. good thing ive had my mesas to keep up with him.

Have been using my F30 in a band setting for about 6 months......play with a REALLY heavy handed drummer and I have always had more than enough volume and lots of head room........only problem i have encountered is cutting through on the neck pickup.......but thats probably got more to do with the fact that i play through an archtop with the tone rolled almost off more than any problem with the amp. After playing a few balls out metal numbers and then switching over to a jazz standard at the same volume i have to leave the guitar on the bridge pickup....thus dont nail the dark jazz tones.....but then again i am confident that anyone playing jazz at metal volumes would experience the same issues.......
