Regarding the F Series Mix Pot Master Volume described by hal9000 in:

Does this mean that with this mod the power amp can be driven into distortion at low volumes in a similar fashion to an attenuator, or does this simply reduce the level coming out of the preamp?

The Mix Pot Master only affects the preamp, so you're not going to be driving the power amp any harder (less actually). However, there is merit to the change. Basically, the F-series sounds better with the channel 2 master over 9:00. As you may have found, that's really loud. So, the Mix pot master just attenuates the signal going into the power section which allows you to get the channel masters up higher. I generally run the Mix pot at about 2:00, and then adjust the channel 2 master to taste which is anywhere from 9:00-12:00 depending on how loud I feel like playing.

Also, even if the tone wasn't different between using the Mix pot or the regular channel master, it's nice to have the overall master for both channels in general. You can equalize the channels, and then adjust the overall level which is nice to have.

OK thanks!
