Here are two clips I recorded Saturday morning with my newly purchased SM-57 and e609 mics. The SM-57 is fully left and the e609 is fully right for both so you can hear the difference and combined tones.

What the Hell Does hal9000 Have?

hal9000 Will Rock You!

Here is the setting I used:

On the AiC clip, I used the same EQ, but with the gain up to 12:00, on Contour, and no Germania. On the Queen clip, I recorded like it shows. The master is misleading because I'm actually attenuating the loop with my FX mix pot master set around 2:00 (the Hot Plate is set to 0 dB so it's not attenuating at all). Finally, I used my Ravelle Limited's bridge SD Custom for both clips and my Line6 Toneport UX-2 for both mic preamps and the USB interface.

The tracks are straight-in (i.e., no EQ, compression, FX, etc.)

wow, wonderful tones hal! i really liked your clips. It's been a great thing to pan the different mics, you can really hear the difference. Really great work!

Thanks! Which mic sound did you like better?

I think they complement each one the other, and the best is have both mixed... but if I had to choose just one mic I probably will go with the Sennheiser, it sounds a bit crispier and has got a better bass response to me, but i like the SM57 too.
What's your opinion about the two mics? If you had to use just one mic, which one would you choose?

I like the SM-57's tone without much fuss over the position. To me, the e609 is a lot more sensitive to position in that moving it around changes the character more. Still, for clean work, the extra presence on the e609 would be welcome.

Nice clips. I wish I had some way to record. I like the bottom that you are getting. Sounds good man...
