Hi

I found a excelent deal on a batch of NOS EI 12ax7 preamp tubes, i decided go with them because the where the orginal tubes the C+ was born with, and the sound reputation sounds apealing to me.

But what about V5 (phase inverter ) will the EI work to good effekt here , or shuld i get somthing else ?

Thanks

The original amp I found with the stock tubes had an Ei SPAX7 in the V1 and and Ei ECC83 in V3 and V4. It had a Chinese 12AX7
in V2 and V5, but all Ei's should sound great. They have a slightly lower compression and let the amp breath a bit.
You need your best three in V1, V3 and V4.

All the original tubes in that amp had Mesa labels. The Ei's were also early to mid 80's grey plates.

Hi boogiebabies

I ges that the EI spax is a EI boogie classified as a obove average rated EI ecc83.

My amp had a chines 12ax7 in v1, but have no clue who manufacted it.

Do you have eny idea what kind of chines 12ax7 mesa put in the v5, it would be cool it i could get it as close to orginal asp ?

regards

Most likely the Chinese 12AX7's from the mid 80's were Sino manufacture.
