FYI...
Something to consider that seems to escape a lot of people when they get a RK and see 'Brit' in channel 2...
Brit = Plexi, Brit DOES NOT = JCM 800.

+1.

Apologies as I do not own an RK, but I had a chance to sit down with one yesterday and tinker. I personally didn't like the brit mode on the roadster but I tried running it with 2x6L6s and 2xEL34s on the road king and found that I really liked that tone a lot more. Much more mid crunch available from those EL34s!

Yeah Brit Mode is definately worthless for it's intended use unless you are running EL34s in your Roadster or have a Roadking II. I'm pretty sure Mesa indicated this in the Roadster Owner's Manual as well. I'm actually currently messing with the Brit Mode voicing as my potential clean setting on Channel 2 as I am having a difficult time finding one that is a good clean overall (none of them seem quite right to me). Having said that, I don't know if I'm being to picky because of all the options or if I really can't find the right one or what. lol Currently I'm using Channel 1's Tweed Mode for a pushed flavor, Channel 2 is reserved for clean, Channel 3 is all out rock and roll, and Channel 4isn't currently being used. I have even dumped pushed mode to free up tweed mode but still wasn't feeling tweed mode. Anyone else have trouble finding a clean mode to fit them? :(

Agreed Brit mode needs EL34's in teh Road King manual they talk about this too.

Are we talking about a RKI or RKII? I think the britt modes on them are different. I know the Britt mode on RKI is based around a plexi and very low gain. If the RKII follows the roadster then it is based more on a JCM800 but with less marshall flavor.

I thought about upgrading to a RKII, but I fear it will be dark like the roadster and also I love the Britt on RKI compared to the Roadsters Britt.
