Hello All . . . I know this may be a simple question but I'm not real good with how gear is actually connected and don't want to wire anything wrong.

I was jamming last night in the control room with a head and the 2x12 cab last night and it became obvious that the right speaker was out. This is a cabinet that I've had for over ten years and it's always lived here in the studio, so I know I didn't "blow a speaker" or anything, so I pulled the plate off the back and inspected what was going on.

Long story short? The cab was wired to be MONO, even though there's two speakers in there, and I like it like that.

My question is simple. Do I just RE-CONNECT the "white wire to the white wire and the black wire to the black wire?" The left speaker is still wired properly and is soldiered to what must be the proper connections . . . do I just soldier the other ones onto the same connections? I can't see another way to do it, but I'm asking just in case I'm totally wrong.

There's two 1/4" inputs on this thing, but I've never used the 2nd one. The guy I bought it from (in about 1995!!) told me that he had it wired mono, and it's been great for over a decade, so I'd like to just put it back like it was.

I'm sure somebody knows . . . this must happen occasionally. Thanks all . . .

Thanks . . . everything's good now. I think the guitar's strings are too thick now . . . I tried those heavy bottom gauge . . .(60!!) and now the Les Paul I put them on sounds kinda out of tune if I play the lower strings. It might need a neck adjustment, but what's strange is that the intonnation seems pretty close to right on the money.

Are you playing in standard tuning?

I would only use those heavy strings if I was playing lowered tunings. It might putting too much tension on the neck.
I could be ignorant on the benefits if anyone wants to enlighten me. :p

Glad your were able to resolve your cab problem.

You are most likely EXACTLY correct. Once I put the little ones down for a nap, I'm gonna re-string that beast. That's gotta be what it is. I'll report back, just for future "too-big-string-buying-dummies" like myself so that they can save themselves from my errors. ha ha ha
