I am experiencing little problem with my Mark V. When I activate my Line 6 DL4 (hooked up in FX loop) it cuts off the high freq. especially on channel 2 and 3 (overdrive). I have tried turning the knob all the way down but it doesn't change.
Does anybody know what the problem is or how to fix it?

Try turning down the channel master on channel 3 to around 9:00. It controls the send level going into the FX loop and having too high a send level will cause it to overdrive the FX in the loop. Sometimes it's an audible distortion... others it's a loss in frequency range.

Thanks for the advise will try that!

I would look at the pedal more than the amp. DL4s have been known to suffer tone loss and volume drops, more or less depending on the delay type and settings. I have no issues with a TimeFactor in the loop.

Me thinks it's the DL4 as well. They are known to affect the tone ever so slightly when engaged. Quite a lot of people get them modded to give them a more "neutral" sound when engaged. Not sure if the tone is affected when bypassed...

Allright I will check if I can get it modded. But I changed some settings in the Nova System and I think it works fine now with the amp! Thanks for all the adivse!

I have had bad experiences with ALL pedals that are all analog, not buffered, or pedals that cannot handle a line level signal. Perhaps the symptoms of "tone loss" are not limited to just those types of effects though.

Line6 DL4= No Good

Any MXR pedal = No Good

Once I put pedals that can accept a high input level, I noticed the tone being restored (even BETTER actually than when the loop is off)

Never thought I would say this, but BOSS pedals are actually making me sound BETTER! (In the loop of course! lol) :D

I had spent many days pissing and moaning about the MV FX loop, but I suppose it just doestn get along with some pedals...

The BOSS DD-3 does NOT like line-level signals. It makes a nice doorstop, though.

The FX loop is meant for line level equipment. The majority of stomp boxes are instrument level devices designed to go before the preamp.
If you try line level devices you will have greater success. I have been using the BOSS Giga Delay as it can be configured for line level and it sounds great with all three channels in my opinion.

My experience with two DL4's (yes, I bought two of them  ) is that when they were in true bypass mode, there was a significant volume drop when the pedal was engaged. Completely useless. When not in true bypass mode, I could hear the tonal coloration when the pedal was off, so it had to go.

yep......I bought a DL4 after hearing the incredible tone clips online.....the delays are incredible for the price of the pedal......but once i hooked it up to my rig i took back within two days because i have never used a pedal that had anymore tone suck than that one......what a shame too!

Try the L6 m9 I have one in the effects loop. The M9 has an option to set it as true bypass or DSP.

+1 to the timeline. I have some of the older Damage Control stuff (strymon before they were strymon). Finest effects I've used. Incredibly transparent with no tonal coloration, at least that I can hear.
