Dating my DC5: mfg date stamp or by s/n ??

Hey all,

So I'm just curious as to the manufacture date of my DC5. Do I go by serial number (in which case is there a list I can check against) or is there a date stamp I can look for. For reference, my DC5 is the first gen with the two LEDs and metal toggle switches. Thanks!
