Crackle and smell?? MKIV

Anybody had this happen...I was playing at bedroom level through my MKIV on Ch2 when all of a sudden I got a loud crackle shortly followed by a burning bakelite smell....turned amp off and had a sniff round the back but could not locate smell other than it came from around the back of the amp...switched amp back on and have been playing it for over an hour with no more hassle and all 3 chans seem fine....will pull the chassis out this weekend but was wondering if this was something that other users have had??!!

You might have burned tube in there.
Also sometimes when there are dirt and all kinds of **** in tube sockets they just take the heat and "burn" away.
I suggest that first step to do is check all tubes and sockets. If there are something burned you might actually hurt your amp badly if you continue playing it like normally.
