Does anybody know of a way to convert the ED combo into a head + cab? I'd love if it were possible just to pull out the amp from the combo, stick it into another box (realizing that the controls would be labeled upside down), and use the combo as a cab. Not sure if Mesa will sell you a case or if you'd have to get someone to custom-make something for you. Anybody have experience or ideas?

Haha, unfortunately, I have almost no carpentry ability, and zero equipment as I'm an indebted medical student (and will be for another 8 years at least). Seems like you're saying that it *is* possible to do, though, which is good to know. Any other solutions to the problem? (I'd like to stay around $150 if that's at all possible).

Why would it be so difficult? Just buy a box for a head and slap in the ED chassis. You may need to make some minor modifications for it but it can't be that difficult since the cassis slips right out of the combo box anyways.

I spoke with Mesa about this exact scenario about 6 months ago.

The lonestar head cab is your best bet

If you by the ED head cab, your combo cab controls will be upsidedown

Since the lonestar head has the knobs up top with the tubes hanging, the writing will be right side up.

But if you do buy a lonestar head cab from mesa, make sure you tell them it is for an ED

Great option. The Lonestar headshells look better IMO.

Have you any idea how much it would cost to do that? That sounds right up my alley. If not, I'll give MB a call when I get a chance - thanks for the suggestion.

I want to say around 400.

And they said it would not void the warranty
