Hey all - I am the proud owner of a Stiletto Ace head and a Mark IV combo. I have a very wide variety of musical tastes ranging from '60s stuff to modern hard rock and some modern metal but the guitar tone I love most is a classic rock / classic metal. Obviously I absolutely love the tone from my Stiletto since this is what it excels at (like a more reliable and tweakable Marshall on 'roids) and I do love what the Mark IV can do - however I sometimes have difficulty convincing myself that my classic rock tone on the Mark IV is really "classic rock tone". I've tried everything - turning up the treble and presence, turning the bass completely off, playing with EQ, using both R1 and Lead channels, boosting with a Maxon OD808 etc...just can't seem to get a tone bright enough to sound like "classic rock" to me. I still have a feeling that tone may be somewhere in there - anyone want to give me some hints on how I might be able to achieve it?
Thanks!
