Hi there,

Im trying to help a friend of mine who just bought a triple channel DR. He decided to also grab a voodoo labs control switcher, G major 2 and fcb1010 as they were really cheap as a secondhand bundle.

Aaaanyway, My understanding is thus: VL control switcher to DR. What I dont get is if I have to switch it off of "footswitch" at the back of the amp. G major is in the loop, FCB1010 to G Major. Im a little overwhelmed by all this, and if anyone has any experience with any of this we would really appreciate the help.

Thanks for reading,

Saff

Start with just the G-Major in the loop and use the amp's footswitch to change channels. Get to the point where you're comfortable programming the G-Major... then add the control function switcher.

Thanks :) I just realised my post probably didnt make much sense :p

So I've got the G-Major in the loop, and I've got the FCB1010 controlling the G-Major no worries. Having some trouble getting it to sound decent through the loop. I've done a bit of reading and searching both here and the tc electronics site but cant seem to find anything concrete. Plus there's a lot of talk about serial loops etc etc Its very confusing....

If its a 3 channel head it has a parallel loop and many of us find it hard to get it to sound right. Of course you could always do the serial loop mod which can be found here somewhere, it's pretty simple. If you turn the mix knob on the back to 100% that's as close to a serial loop you can get without modding it, so you can try that to start.

Many convert loop to serial.

Also something about adding a buffer (buffer pedal) to convert the impedance. Wampler, MI AUdio and other pedal makers have them.

Alrighty!!!

After much hair pulling and gnashing of teeth, we've got the fcb1010 controlling patch change and MOD (cc) messages to the G Major!

That was the easy part it seems...

So now the voodoo lab control switcher has thrown me a bit:

I have the knob on the back of the rectifier set to Footswitch, and a lead from Chan 1, Chan 2, Chan 3 and FX Loop going to the switcher. I cant find a way to switch from chan 3 back to chan 1. BOTH of them light up on the amp simultaneously which Im guessing cant be good for the amp.

Really appreciate any help that can be offered! I'm really grateful for all the replies :)
Cheers,
Saff

Yeeeha!! Finally figured it all out. It turns out that the Dual rectifier defaults to channel 2. So connected the channel switcher to Chan 1, Chan3, boost and Fx loop. Then midi out of switcher into g major 2. Sending PC messages to the channel switcher and CC messages to the g major has done the trick as far as connectivity is concerned!

Now just need to figure out how to deal with this "tone suck" issue with the g major in the parallel loop and all will be well

Some people laugh and some people agree.

The TC does not play well at all with the Mesa "buffered" FXLoop.

I contacted "ThisOnesMine" and provided him with my specs.

He made me two buffers, one for each amp I use...two Tremoverbs.

I modded both of my amps to a series loop and added the buffers.

No more tone suck...love it.

I paid extra for the LED and On/Off switch so that I could compare.

Once I dialed in the FXLoop to unity gain AND tweaked the Input/Ouput of the TC so that I had NO clipping, and checked each patch I was using for any clipping I A and B'd those puppies (buffers) and I love them.

Just my two cents.

Search on the Boogie Board and The Gear Page...there is much about this with regards to available information.

Good Luck Brother.
