I know we talked about this earlier.. I just traded a Mesa Slant 4x12 full of V30's for the same cab with C90's.

I would like to gut the slant and install the speakers into my straight angled Mesa rect cab... and I would like to maybe try the X pattern.

The C90's have that scoop mid sound I like!

Thanks Nick (who is a member here)

Just use the wiring that's there already - it's the same no matter what the speaker type, if they're all 8 ohm speakers. The only question would be about the stereo connection - do you want *each* side to be a V30/C90 mix? (in which case use the exact stock wiring), or do you want one side V30 and the other side C90? (in which case you need to physically swap one pair, either top or bottom, taking their wires with them). It only matters if you plan to use the cab in stereo and if you want to use *different* amps with each type of speaker. I wouldn't do that with the RK A and B outputs because it doesn't usually sound very good to only drive two of the speakers in a cab. If you're using a stereo power amp I would stick with the mix on each side.

The mixed speakers sound really good to me in an X pattern. They blend very well together and give a balanced sound, to my ears at least :D .

I am in poesession of a split 4 ohm input jackplate. I really dont use stereo in a cab but thanks for the info on the wireing...

The C90's scoop and the V30's punch really made me think hard about X, side by side or just making it all four of the same.

The C90's all in a straight angled cab could really sound great.

Ya, how is that c90 / v30 combination working out for you? I personally REALLY like it.

I really like it as well. I haven't used the new cabs in a live situation, but that is coming this weekend. I have been practicing and writing with them (with the whole band), and they seem to really balance the sounds out of the heads. Both of the heads cut through the mix really well, and the speakers seem to balance out my tone across the spectrum. I am very pleased with the decision to do this combo in the cabs. They compliment each other well and add to the sound nicely. The other guitarist has a regular v30 loaded Recto cab like my old ones, so I think I am going to do a side by side comparison with them hooked up to one head this week. Just to see how the sound changed between getting the new speakers and true straight front cabs (his cab and my old ones were straight front/angled baffle). We are also going to experiment with both speakers while in the studio here in about a week and a half, which should be cool.

Well the more I play them... the more I like them seperate... I dig Roadking Channel 4 with the v30's and I dig the orange channel on the C90's.... The Cleans are better on the C90's as well

Think Im going to just use my C90 loaded recto 2x12 for the meantime and when I get the cash I will buy another 2x12 cab (either the same or a open back model)

I just like them too much by themselves

OH NOW AT 501 you get to be a Mark 4~ lol

Yea... I got a thing about the counter
