I'm building a 4 x 12" Recto dimensions. The perimeter boards are already cut and dovetail-ed.

Should I design
- a straight front (like the bottoms),
- a straight front with a slight tilt (something like 1 or 2 eg.) ,
- an angle top (like your Marshall 1960A, I think 7 deg.),
- or that discountined straight front (perimeter) but the top speaker baffle is angle like an angle 4 x 12".

I do have caster cups if I do a straight 4 x 12" bottom.

I hope I put this post in the right section.

I prefer a straight front with a slight tilt. You hear yourself better and when it's on stage you won't be tearing someone's head off because your cranked cab is aimed over them instead of right at them.

My vote goes to the straight cabinet with a slanted baffle, like my bottom cab in this pic:

Thanks guys, for a while I thought i was posted in the wrong bulletin board or was just ignored.

domct203, thanks for the picture. That's my 4th option on my list above (no particular order which I prefer). I just didn't know how to describe it.

... and that might be the one I'm going for because I have caster cups.

I've build an angle 4 x 12" before but my buddy borrowed and then kept it. Well at least he allow me to keep my V30s. He purchase (4 ) V30s brand new ones. Kind of sound harsh with non-broken in V30s. Well he told me to keep his 2 x 12" Zinky.

I'll try to post pictures of assembly. Maybe inspired more diy-ers here.

After some thought, I'm going with a "hybrid" design what ryjan, domct203 & geetar_geek79 suggested.

Its going to be a bottom cabinet type, the pair of bottom 12s will be straight and the pair of top 12s will have slight slant maybe 1 to 3 deg.

I'd slant the whole baffle. Have all 4 speakers firing in the same direction so you get the punch of a straight cab but with enough slant that you can hear yourself dead on.

Yeah, but, the speaker baffle is cut already in pairs. I suppose I could still design it that way.

Gosh, now my plans are still up in the air. I still like your suggestion of that straight bottom with the slight slope. domct203's straight bottom but the top pair with the 7 deg angle looks fine too.

Gonna sleep on it. I'm not to anxious on this project anyway.

This project was in the back-burners and now (2013) I put it to the fore-front and decided on 1 deg. slant on the speaker baffle.

Actually my buddy gave me back 4x12" angled so no need for an angle 4x12". ryjan, you win!

Your prize is the latest Jonas Brother CD. Now if I could pry it off my step daughter hands. :(

I kept debating between a 4x12" 'straight' but top pair speakers angle baffle -vs- a straight with a slights slant speaker baffle. I even had the angle speaker baffled cut out. The slight angle baffle kept haunting me. So that's my decision. :)
