My Rectoverb combo series II makes a noise like a crosswind wind against a blanket or buffeting sound coming from the speakers. It is noted if I lightly tap on the top or side of the cabinet or after I play my guitar through it. I recently bought this used. I hope it isn't too much to fix. Does anyone have any Idea? Thanks: Tom.

First, if you are not comfortable with working in a tube amp, take it to a professional, there are voltages in there that can KILL you.

If you bought it used, re-tube it. It's likely a tube going microphonic.

With the amp on, and off of Standbay, take a pencil with an eraser end, and tap each tube. If it makes a noise through the speaker, you have you culprit.

You'll likely need to remove the metal spring caps from the pre-amp tubes first.

Yep. The tubes definitely need to be replaced. From the tube placement diagram, V5 and one of the power tubes are bad. The power tube was really touchy. I'll order a complete set today. I'll probably just order Mesa tubes. Even with tube microphonics the amp sounds great. Thanks for your help. I've learned something.
