Anybody got suggestions for a boost for the Brit mode? I get a great open sounding stiff crunch from the brit mode and an old school rock sound in the tweed mode, but I want to be able to take them over the top. I have a Maxon 808 but I really don't like the way it plays with Tweed/Brit modes. I'm looking for something thick; I was thinking about a Keeley modded SD-1 or an OCD. I also looked into an MXR Wylde Overdrive but I've heard some bad things about them. Anything I could use on all four channels is a plus, but not necessary.

Any suggestions?

RK 1 or 2? For my RK1 I use either an SD1 or a tubescreamer with the gain and drive maxed and it gives me a great plexi voiced sound. If you have a RK1 dont be afraid to max the treble and gain on the Britt mode, remember it is voiced after a marshall and that is how you would have done an old plexi head.

I have a II. I have the treble and gain maxed. It gives me a great sound. I just want to be able to take it way over the top, and I don't like how the tubescreamer plays with the voicing on the channel.

808. Isn't the 808 a tubescreamer?

I was looking for something a little more transparent in any case.

808 is what the original tube screamer was, now the Ibanez tube screamer is different then the original version as they lost the rights or something, i dont know the whole story, but in general the 808 and tube screamer are different beasts.

Basically the 808 is a very clear pedal and does not color the original tone as much as a tube screamer. The tube screamer to be adds more mids which i like for my recto.

Yeah, I'm just not a fan of how they're interacting on the first two channels. It works great on the second two. I'm looking for something a little thicker and a little bit more hair. So far I'm leaning towards an SD-1 (for price), OCD, BB Pre, or a straight clean boost (I have a Boss and MXR EQ that could suit the bill).

You could try a Radial ToneBone Plexitube. I use a Keeley TS9DX Flexi 4X2 with my Roadster, but it is semi redundant cause the voicings are very similar to the Brit mode...
