Well, I just *may* have found the problem. This morning I pulled out the speaker, and as I was pulling it out of the cab, I heard a rattle! I thought I was going to find a screw that had fallen out of something.
When I turned the speaker over, a piece of glass fell out! It's curved, and looks like it's from a broken tube even though there were no broken tubes in the amp when I received it.
So, then I turned the speaker over to put it back in and.....a screw fell out! Maybe I'd better shake the speaker a few times before I put it back in, to see what else comes out.
Anyway, I've got a funny feeling the problem just might be gone when I try the amp again. It's too early to crank 'er up right now, I'd wake the neighbors.
Thanks again everyone for your assistance!!!!!!

brianf, that pic is extraordinary....but obviously, it's from shipping damage!
:D

I was shocked when I opened it up. Someone in the plant had obviously bumped the cap before the glue had dried!!!

I mean there was zero glue on the bottom third of the cap. Zero glue.

How did this get past Q.C. I sure hope this in not a sign of quality in the Chinese Celestions. Worse yet, why did someone in the mesa plant put the thing in one of their cabs?????

Bringing back an old thread.... I had a problem with a rattling noise coming from my lonestar classic playing low notes or playing louder. I did a google search and found this thread. I had swapped out every tube and still had the rattle. I saw Brianf's pic of the speaker with the dust cap not glued and decided to take the amp apart and check the speakers..... Sure enough....One of my speakers dust caps was not glued all the way. It looked like there was glue there but it didnt hold. I threw some super glue on tthe spot that didnt hold, put it back together and the buzz/rattle was all gone

PS... I noticed a Made in China sticker in the bottom of the cab, I am guessing that is where my Black Shadow speakers where made. I believe my amp is a 2010 Lonestar Classic V2.

Very interesting stories, and I'm glad you guys figured out the issue(s). I'm gonna take my C90 out of my Electra Dyne and check it. I have a similar situation with an odd mechanical rattle. Thanks!
