Using my 95 Dual Recto and my Maxon OD808. Enjoy.

I'm gona have to go no boost, although you can tell the definite drop in presence with no boost I just feel it fits. And nice riffing after the first break, whatever was going on in the 3-5 frets. Dig.

Do you have any ideas for sample Metal tones for a Les Paul with Bare Knuckle Rebel Yells?? I can hit phat mean crunch tones or punk tones all day with this thing, but for one thing I am going to record, I need more aggression.

Oh, I should add that I was experimenting with an SM57 and I found that the tone was bassy and quite gainy / thick with the gain just around 1:00. I had to back it below 12 noon and this is with the master at 8:30 on the Red channel. When I play in the room, it sounds clear and articulate with the gain as high as 2:00, and this tone is much more aggressive, mean, and percussive.

I would. Put the sm57 about an inch from the center of the cone to start and turn the amp up to 9:00 at the minimum. The louder you record, the harder the amp will obviously but the mic will also start responding differently. I find the 57's love volume.

another great vid fluff

I have to say say I liked no boost better overall . just sounds a little warmer to me . a little spongier in a good way

Both tones are great, I like the added tightness and cut with the Maxon, But I'm still impressed with the natural tone of the Rectifier. I go back and forth between boost and no boost, I like both for different reasons.

This video really helps to show how the 808 can help tighten it up (if that's your preference). That's how I ran it when I had a dual rec. Thanks for the video.

Good video, usually I see a very subtle change whereas here it's quite noticeable.

Agreed.

It's funny how my ears tell sometimes me "boost" on videos and "no boost" when I listen to a boosted/non-boosted amp live, but my hand always chooses "no boost".
I guess I like to plug straight in, if you know what I mean

Sorry for the late reply, but I just did this myself (after watching your video) with a Boss sd-1 and really like it.

You're video shows what my tests also show. A boosted Recto is tighter and a little clearer/brighter.
I also like the boost for solos, as it seems to make the notes a little quicker... they jump off the fretboard with ease.

Thanks for the vid.

i have to say both tones are cool...
1- i like the attack with the boost
2- i also like it without the boost
3- you should try to add some presence on the EQ and use the boost to do solos....

Excellent video, brosefina.

I can't stand when self important pricks go on forever about their rig, and what cables/pickups/tampons/strings they use like they're a rockstar and I might actually GAF about all that nonsense. + 10 internets

thanks for sharing.
