guys, this cover of the old classic 'Highway Star' was just for fun, thought i'd post a link here, so you could check it out.
it uses an all original 1981 mesa boogie Mark 2B 60 watt head, typically into a 1x12 closed back cab with a greenback.
not trying to cop the original sound, this is my sound, just wanted you to hear something that's real familiar, for reference.
for this recording, i used groovetubes adapters to put the 6L6's to el84's.

i did all guitars and vox, xenophile did drums, bass, keys.
i mixed and mastered.
Vox: AT4033, thru a A Designs Audio MP-1 (class A mic pre) into a convertor, into sonar.
guitars: custom USACG cream strat (the one i posted here about a year ago), bill lawrence L-280s (solos) and L-500L (rhythm)
solos: my 1981 Mesa Boogie Mark2B 60 watt head but run thru my Demeter Iso cab, and a 57 on a Eminence Legend 122 speaker in it, which i've decided i do not like (the speaker), and i did some funky experiments with the eq on it, and this was the result.
Rhythms: open-air-mic up my Roland closed back 1x12 cab (with a greenback) , ADK Hamburg off axis, at about 2 feet away on the edge of the cone.
Recording DAW: it's Sonar 4, running on a PC, thru a Maudio 24/96 card, and this was the very first project i've done with it! (learning a new daw is kinda like chinese water torture)
Xenophile (an internet friend) asked if i was interested in a collaboration, i said 'sure'--
he programmed the bass and drums, and then played all the key parts, and then we mailed tracks back and forth...
last year, i put out a full length album, as a signed artist with indepenent label 'Planet Records'.
here's a link, to 3 full length tunes off the album....
the Mesa mark2b was used on all tracks.

i've got years of recording this Mesa Beast, if anyone wants to hear clean, bluesy or hard rock style soloing on the mark2b.
