best source for the famed tungsol 12AX7 tubes ?

I don't want to pay a fortune if it doesn't
have significant impact on my mkIII
so best / cheapest [ or most reasonable ] idea's ?

expect to pay ~19/ shipped. i suggest starting w/just one in V1 & go from there.

i find that one or two have a nice "warming" effect but more than that & you start to lose definition.

if you are buying NOS tungsol (which I would, the new one are OK but don't even compare) then you can easily spend $40 a tube..and ebay is a great place to look, a fellow board member turned me onto buying NOS preamp tubes there.

Most people don't seem to use them in V3 on the mkIII
so i'll start with one , thanks

any known good vendors ?

btw I tried a telefunken flate plate ,
[ i have a few for my pro audio ] and
that seems to be smoother

As i smooth out the top , though
i could use a little more Ummh , so
it doesn't get too weak
