I've been in a few bands and there was always drama. Always the weak links. I notice vocalists who barely help lug gear, stand around and watch everyone else set up while they drink their beer. Members just not respecting venues or clubs....just all kinds of stupid stuff. A big one for me is when one or two members are buying new gear and always maintaining their instruments, where the other 4 are behind in the dust, playing with broken drum heads, 6 month old strings, etc. It's sad. Another irk I have is when a member will flat out say "I got the part, I got the song down good let's move on" when they clearly dont. or members who have TOO much self confidence.....only been in the band 6 months, their first band EVER, and they think they are king of the world and best at what they do. Its fine to have some self confidence, but come on now.... =/

The point I'm at now...we can practice basically any day of the week. I'm at the jam space along with the vocalist almost every single day, whether we are jamming or just kinda hanging out. Already, after week 2 of moving into the new jam space, I'm hearing "It's 9pm, I have to leave Im hungy and want to watch South Park....." and the excuses start coming in "I have stuff I have to take care of tonight, cant make it"....So basically I feel let down. Maybe I have more time on my hands than most of the other guys? I dont care either way, I know I am serious about it at least. I'm just always hoping things turn out for the best in the end. I am feeling pretty good about our current situation, but there is always going to be clashing between a few of us when we write material. Some of us though, have a harder time trying different ideas rather than sticking with what they feel is best.

There is nothing wrong with that unless there is a group band fund.

If it were me, I would GTFO of that band ASAP.

epilogue

I am in a much better place personally. I have given up playing for popularity and for money. I jam with good friends who have been around the block and the pressure is at zero PSI. I'm taking lessons from Dave Uhrich and have learned that my picking technique needs a reset so Im concentrating more on that than anything. Although I have enough equipment here to throw my own personal live show... I am gearing up for another run with my bass playing/singing brother (who was in the same band with the ********* singer and the ******* cop) That band did in fact break up last Oct and the ******* harrassed the ********* and through manipulating the ********* (no hard task!) I found out all the sordid details how these guys still hated eachother but wanted to be successful $$ wise by claiming they were now a "Party rock" coverband. They lasted 6 months.

The ********* singer is in a rehashed revision of a once successful coverband here in the NW burbs of Chicago. Saw one show and it is painfully obvious that more people see it my way when it comes to this guy's penchance for being a true *********. The ******* cop is in a Creed tribute band (which I will not name due to his volatile nature) but as recent as november I was recieving threatening phone calls and harrasing emails. In the end I found it was my duty as a father figure to give this piece of **** his ego stroke and I sent him an apology (which he strewn and stretched towards everything about the band that pissed him off) I had to do this because I have a family and we enjoy a good life that will never involve these people.

My feeyonce, has been very accomodating to my music life and never again will I bring people who's end justifies the means... no more of this ******** and I can see there are lots of you out there that feel the same or have experienced the same situations ... Its funny because the situation I started this thread with has been overshadowed by many worse moments after the fact.

Good for you. There should be some kind of psych test that band mates could take to predict who is going to get along and who is going to be a complete freak of human being.
