I'm going to order an Avatar cabinet with Celestion g12h30's.

There is something I like about the 2x12.

I think its cause it's not that big, easier to haul around and can have it right next to my marshall cabinet or stack it below. I really like how they look too.

Although im not a lazy *** who is un-willing to haul around 2 4x12's.

I don't know if I should just get a 2x12 to go along with my current Marshall 4x12 loaded with greenbacks.

or

Just get another 4x12 so I can have 4greenbacks & 4 g12h30's combination going?

If i do order a 2x12 will it be heard and not over powered by the 4 green backs?

I'm using a Mark IIIC+ head

I have a 2X12 made by Armadillo Amp Restoration that is very similar to the Avatar Premier Cab. My Armadillo is just slightly smaller. I"m very happy with it. I would imagine the Avatar would sound just great.
I have the opening at the bottom on my Armadillo. It sounds big and fat. I really don't miss the 4X12 I used to use.

awesome

how would you compare the 2x12 to your 4x12?

Which 4x12 was it?

It was an older Marshall 4X12. But to my ears the 2X12 sounds bigger. Maybe because it's a pretty big box for 2 speakers and it is slightly open in the back. The Marshall was very cool but it had 25 watt speakers in it so it broke up pretty fast, and really didn't have all that much low end. It had a lot of low middle but not a lot of bass. It was also a 16 ohm cab so I lost a bit of power and high end when I used it.
The 2X12 is an 8 ohm cab so it matches better. The speakers I'm using are a pair of MC 90's I had reconed at Orange County speaker. The were reconed with Mueller 55 hz cones. These were the cones that were used in the old Celestions G12H30's. They used the high power voice coil and the big dust cover. So these speakers are a hybrid between an MC 90 and an old G12H30. It's an interesting sound kind of 60's sounding but without the early breakup.

Another one you may want to consider is the Avatar G410. I bought one to use with my Mark IV and I liked it so much I bought a second one. Now I use them with my Mark IV and my stereo rig (TriAxis-50/50). I've also got an Avatar G212H semi open back cab loaded with a pair of Celestion Blues. Those ARE the best sounding guitar speakers made, I just wish they could handle more power.

I have an Avatar B210 bass cab that I just love. I also bought a set of 4 Greenbacks from them to replace the original G12T-75's in my bottom Marshall cab. IMHO, Dave's got about the best customer service ethic in the business. I will most definitely be dealing with them again.

I got the greenbacks as a contrast to my A cab which is loaded with V30's. About two weeks later, I decided to combine them so that each cab had two V30's and two Greenbacks in an X pattern. I like it so much, don't see myself changing that setup any time soon. I hear about a lot of people doing the same thing.
