Hi
Im on the look out for another quad box.
I already have a Marshall 1960TV cab with greenbacks , which sound good with my old Marshalls ......but ok with my MKIV

A cab with old 75 watters & just sold a cab with Blackback G12H-30s 75hz

Im looking for a bigger fatter tone with plenty of midrange & not too spikey on the top.

Im thinking of going for the V-30's or G12-65's

From what I have read the G12-65's look interesting on paper , but I havent found any to try out as yet.

Could someone tell me about there tone & compare them to the above mentioned speakers ?

Thanks

I have a 1979 Marshall 4X12 with the 65 watters. It's pretty cool. Sounds very similar to Greenbacks but without the early breakup. They sound fat with a sweet top end. They have less low end than the V-30's, but don't have the upper mid spike that V-30's have. I don't know if you can relate to this or not but to my ear the 65's produce a sound similar to what Mick Taylor got when he was with the Stones. I believe that Robben Ford uses the 65 watters as well.
