Vitor Gracie has informed me that there are not very many good amp techs in the Nashville area.
The gears are slowly turning and the candle is on above my head!

I really want to move to a place where I can work on amps full time and not be an electrical contractor anymore.

Just wondering what the economy, housing, amp repair situation is in this area?

Thanks,
Andy

I live an hour 1/2 south, but I find it hard to believe there aren't any good amp techs in Nashville-hell, everybody there plays geeetar!my first thought would be there are too many!
economy in Nash should be good...live like a poor man in East Nashville and save $$...i recently bought some tubes from an amp tech in Nashvegas-I can send you his # and you can ask him questions

That's what I thought too, but apparently there are not many guys who are musicians that fix amps. Same old story, "Yeah, I put it on the bench and sent a signal through it, everything looks fine to me!"

I would like the guy's number, that would be great!

I design and wire smart homes too, and I looked up contractors in the Nashville area, there are tons of them. I just might have to shotgun the old resume out into space and see what happens. This place is dried up and withering away. Friggin economy is terrible here.

 I'm not even looking for "Greener pastures," just a pasture with some green in it!

:) I was just in TN on vacation and noticed one thing...there are very few shops that sell or service electric instruments in E. TN. Maybe it's the whole mountain music, country legacy thing, but I thought it was odd. Several acoustic dealers with some nice axes, but not much beyond that. I was considering moving down there...but wow!

I live in Middle Tennessee, about 45 minutes south of Nashville. There are plenty of amp techs, and they all seem to do a decent business. There is this one guy who lives out in the country, only takes cash, and wants to know everything about you before he will work on your stuff - he is kinda creepy. Like America's Most Wanted creepy. I'm just saying...

It must be. All the electricity goes into powering Dollywood and the strip in Pigeon Forge and Gattlinberg...sheesh! I've never seen so many crappy T-shirt and trinket stores in my life.
