Poor carpeted thing. I rescued it from Highland Music after I had foolishly sold my last two Halfbacks to buy Thieles (nice, just not for me). I got a smoking deal on it, however, because the guys said it didn't sound great, and had "issues". Issue one was it was stuffed with foam. Lots of it. Issue two was that someone who really didn't know what they were doing had rewired it incorrectly, and one of the speakers wasn't even hooked up causing it to read wonky on the ol' multimeter. Then there was the black carpet. I wouldn't bet a ton of money on it or anything, but I don't think Mesa ever carpeted any of their equipment like Carvin, and some other companies did.

Once the "issues" were taken care I fired it up, and the Celestions G12-65s that were in it started to sing. Man, I like those speakers. At the time I had a Stiletto, and I wanted an all Celestion cab, so I swapped the bottom MS-12s for C-90s, but now I kinda wish I had them back to try with my DC.

No call necessary. The showdown happened today. The MkV is an excellent amp for the price, as it will do some things that my MkII will not. Would I sell my loaded C+ to fund a MkV? HELL NO! :twisted: I tend to like the so-called "sub lows" that are apparent in the EQ C+ models. There will be a full review in the Vintage Amps forum very soon.

I did tweak out a VERY mean sounding Mark I mode on channel 2, for those who say that it is too dark. I did own one for 15 years, though. :lol:

Hey Bob, a certain Hamer Vector into my IIC+ is a recipe for magic. I took a spin on the local GC MKV, and I don't thiink your DC has any apologizing to do.

Extreme has no balls?? I put this clip together 30 mins after I got my Mark V home with the Extreme mode. It has only gotten better since. The Mark V may not be for you but it certainly does not lack in the balls department:

Don't get me wrong: I really like the tone on these clips. But man, they could be almost any amp. For sure, a Mark IV could do these tones and so could so many other amps that aren't even Mesas.
