a few toob noob questions

Hi all,

I've had my F-30 for about two months now and I must say that it is a vast improvement on my marshall AVT... anyways... im looking the change the tubes in it for less distortion so early in the pre-amp... i never use anything above noon on the gain... there is just so much of it

so was thinking i could replace the standard 12AX7s with some GT 5751Ms or something to calm it down a bit. I'm not really concerned about volume so if it is quieter I don't care. Just as long as it has a nice rounded clean channel i'm a happy man.

Can GT-12AU7s be subbed into the 12AX7 spot?

Will changing the power tubes from EL-84s to something else make much difference. For example... if the pre-amp becomes softer in output... can i upgrade the power amp to boost it back?

Can EL-84s be changed to 6L6s or something else using an adaptor or something?

Ok... so I've been and done some reading.

Sounds like a couple of pairs of 5751s are the go for me. Is there anyone out there who has put 5751s into an F-Series?

Preferably F-30... but doesn't really matter.
