Man... there's a lot of deleted posts in that thread.... bitch fight break out or something?

Anyway, long story short is that the middle pair are the 'class A' pair so the EL34s should be on the inside.

And don't use 10w mode.

yeah if you dont use 10 watt put the els in the inner sockets i know its opposit from the mark ivs all i know is mesa has said not to do this as the amp wasnt made for "both at once" but as you seen in that post you can but if something did ever go wrong and they trace it back to you useing a mixture of tubes your warranty will be void. All im tryin to say is warranty will get void if they find out, but as the pictures show nothing too straining on the amp happens. Just make sure its set up THE exact same way

I would say that the manual covers my ass, but putting the EL34s in the 'correct' sockets is totally against what the manual states.

Either way, it's somewhat of a moot point since a big part of the reasoning for this was that I wanted 6L6s on the clean channel (45w) and some more EL34 edge/midrange on the lead.

There have been NO issues with running a cold biased pair of EL34's in the inner sockets, that I know of. If you flipped the bias switch to EL34 mode with this combination, a meltdown would occur. Any company will use every excuse that it can to get out of a warranty claim. It's all about the money.

They could say they changed the manual blah blah blah. Probally the reason why they took it out was because they typoed the outter pair except actully how it should be with the els in the inner sockets. Also try 90 watts fat mode with the 6l6s and then use crunch mode with a **** load a mids and base tone around that or if you wanna use your channel three use the mark iv mode with bass at 9oclock or less mids at about 11oclock and treb where you want it then gain and pres to taste then in ur geq shape the eq in a wish shape taht may get you the bite you need if not try a good old tubescreamer with the level dimed, gain at about a 1/4 and ur tone where you desire that will give you a bit more grit
