Hi Guys,
Other than the obvious difference between the wattage and overall headroom are there any other differences between the 2? I have a chance to get a new triple multiwatt at a great price but wonder if i should opt for the dual as i may never need 150 watts? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have an oppurtunity to get a multiwatt triple at the same cost as the multiwatt dual. What would make the most sense?

The output difference isn't that much. I have an older 3 channel Triple Rec and Multi-watt Dual Recs and the Duals get plenty loud even on the clean channels. Some say the Triples have a little darker tonal characteristic to them since they
have a little more power output. With the Multi-watt feature, both can go down to 50 watts with the flip of a switch, but
the main difference for me is the extra $$ you have to pay every time you re-tube the head since the Triple Rec takes an extra pair of Power tubes and another Rectifier tube.

The Triple is darker, more complex, and definitely more insane. It thumps harder, mostly because of the extra headroom. I hesitate to call it 'power' since 50watts up from 100watts really isn't that much of a difference. With the 50 - 150 watt option, tone at low volumes is completely a non-issue. It all comes down to personal preference. Try them both and see what you like!

It comes down to personal preference. Keep in mind you gonna have a few more tubes to replace if you go with the triple though (which may or may not be a big deal to you).

keep in mind channels 2 and 3 are identical, so any difference will be in the power and rectifier and how that effects tone

Thanks guys for all of your help. I like the sound of the multiwatt amps but i like the flexibility of the roadking and roadster. Does the roadking sound as good as the multiwatts dirty channels?

I didn't really like the road king myself, have you looked at a Stilleto?? Multi-watt and great crunch channels
