Hi,
I'm thinking of trading my 4x12 for 2 mesa 2x12 cabs loaded with v30's. I wonder what are the differences between sound?

I do care a lot about that low end (I'm using a mark IV which doesnt give me plenty to begin with.) Will 2 2x12 give me the same as one 4x12? (Isn't there a divider inside the mesa boogie 4x12 anyways?) Or at least the roadking cab has 2x12 in closed back and 2x12 in open back. Doesn't that just act like 2 cabs?

what other differences? Also what's the difference between a 2x12 recto and a 2x12 roadster? Thanks!

2 2x12s sound way different than the RK cab even though in essence the RK cab is like 2 different cabs in one. The 2x12s will sound a lot tighter and focused because they're smaller enclosures. I think a 4x12 has more bottom end because its a bigger box. You may want to looking into something like a Freda or Port City Wave cab. They sound huge which a very big bottom end. the vents provide a lot of openess and bass response while the rest of the design caters to a very clear articulate sound. Although i went to the roadster 2x12 and a basson 2x12 i havent thrown out the idea of going to just a Freda 2x12 but i want to try it in my setup first before dumping the other 2x12s. The Freda cabs definitely have a bigger sound than my two 2x12s but not as much as a 4x12 (but close)
