Checking out a DC5 - Backup for Mark IV?

i have a dc5 and a mark iv the cleans are almost as good on the dc but the lead channel needs a bit of a boost to get it into mark iv territory. I fine the dc lead channel a bit more modern sounding than the iv (with the boost and some para eq) and i also think its a little looser and less mid...

    DC5 - Ghost of Perdition

Did a quick cover of the rhythm guitar for Ghost of Perdition by Opeth on the DC5. Despite being recorded on a crappy room mic the DC sounded great. Such a cool amp! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kp6a3k1sUNs cheers

    DC-5 Bad Hum

AT LAST ! After a few hours of trying different things I found the main culprit to be a bad power supply to my noise suppressor pedal . Swapped it out for another and the loud hum went away. I think i need a decent power supply for my 3-4 pedals - any recommendations? During the process of...

    DC-5 Bad Hum

cheers dude i tried swapping out each preamp tube in turn with a new tube - this made no difference to the hum. Then i pulled each power tube in turn to check if one of those was causing the problem and the hum was same..... not sure where to go next!

    DC-5 Bad Hum

My Dc5 combo has recently developed a bad hum on the lead channel. Its very noticeable at even quiet volumes and gets louder as the volume increases. Its present on the rhythm channel too but not as bad. Ive not changed anything in my set up recently so its a bit strange. I have a noise...

    Some more Opeth... UPDATED!

Opeth are awesome - ive recently got into them over the last few months. I have been jamming them with some buddies recently. Here is our version of Heir Apparent off Watershed (recorded with a room mic only) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwYIf9fLqI8&feature=channel It ain't note perfect...

    DC-5 remote channel switching

i have just picked up a radial loopbone effects loop controller the 'slingshot' feature allows the pedal to connect to the footswitch input on the DC-5 to enable amp channel change simultaneously when a pedal effect loop is engaged in the signal path. this avoids the need to 'tap dance' on...

DC-5 Combo with recto 2x12 and thiele

i tend to change the settings around depending on what speaker cab im using as well as the room im in. generally though its something like this on the lead channel Gain 7.5 Treble 7.5 Mid 8 Bass 3-4 (probably lower the better again depending on the cab) Presence 6-7 Reverb 0 Master 1.5 - 2...

DC-5 Combo with recto 2x12 and thiele

i think i would tend to agree with you. the thiele (with the evm12l 300w) on its own sounds quite 'boxy' and 'hi fi' in comparison to the open back cab as you would expect. Its also quite a focused cab in that it sounds very loud directly in front and not so loud to the side for the same amp...

DC-5 Combo with recto 2x12 and thiele

Thanks for the advice dude The parallel out to the thiele works well. I prefer the sound without the combo for some reason. The combination of the recto cab and the thiele make for a thunderous bottom end!
