I got em today. Im gonna have a professional do it cause I dont know one end of a soldering gun from the other. Id probably end up with 3rd degree burns. Ill keep u updated on how it turns out
Thanks for the replies :D Im going to guitar center tomorrow to get an 81tw in the bridge and the 89 in the neck of my jacskon sl2h.
I tried the schecter c-1 hellraiser with the emg coil taps through a roadster in the guitar center and the cleans were incredible. Im just curious to how they...
Sorry if this has already been done to death but I am considering getting a 81tw and 89. Ive had a guitar that has an 81-85 combo and really like it. Besides the coil tap in the 89, is there any difference in tone between the 89 and the 85?
You were correct Setzer. there was a piece of wood lodged in there making it impossible to tighten it up all the way. I must have over looked that before. Now its as solid as a neck-thru. thanks guys for helping me out cause that would not get out of my head.
thanks for the reply
i tried adjusting the truss rod but it didnt help and the screws are not bottoming out either
Im really stumped
anyone else have any thoughts?
Alright... Ive had my jackson dkmg for about 2 months and so far im lovin it with the emg 81/85 combo. Then the first time I divebomb on it....I hear a loud creak. This happens when I pull up also. So I took it to a guitar tech to figure out what was the deal. He told me the sound was not coming...
+1 on it adding a metallic edge to the notes
I had the exact same guitar (trans red, beautiful flame) and upgraded to an original FR because it was creaking and notes werent sustaining and have never looked back. It solved both problems plus the metally sound is gone

The roadster is a dual rectifier except with reverb and four channels instead of three. When refering the the dual rec three channel we just call it a dual rec and when refering to the roaster we call it a roadster to not cause confusion.
I played the roadster side by side with the dual rec and I thought they were about equally loud. The gain was more tight/articulate on the roadster plus it had better cleans. Thats why i bought it :D
