    Traditional and Stiletto

My understanding is that the Traditional was essentially renamed the Stiletto - I would guess that when the Stiletto amp was introduced, the traditional (i.e. non-oversized) recto cab was viewed as the ideal companion - thus renamed.

    Roadster Amp with el34's...

Count me amongst the minority here - but I've tried EL34s (as well as the closely related KT77s) in my roadster a few times and just am not that crazy about it. Yes, the crunch on channel 2 Brit is better but to me it's not a night and day difference and like they suggest in the manual I do...

Stiletto Ace 2x12 combo: Need some advice please!!

I struggled with this issue with my Ace and eventually sold it. However, a few things which worked for me included tube changes (I actually liked running a lower gain tube in V1 like a 5751 or even 12AT7 along with =C= EL34s) and fiddling with tone settings. Don't forget to use the tone...

Is anyone using a attenuator thats worth a crap?

I get very nice results with THD hot plates - as long as I don't go above 8-12dB attenuation.

    Cab suggestion for Roadster?

Aren't the Roadster and Stiletto 212 cabs virtually identical?

    Cab suggestion for Roadster?

Hey all, Just picked up a Roadster and am loving it! Very versatile beast, just getting to know it. I currently have been playing it through 2 different cabs - an Avatar vintage style 212 with one V30 and one G12H30 and a Splawn 412 with Eminence 2x Manowars and 2x Governers. I prefer the...

    Roadster and Deuce

I just sold my Stiletto Ace and picked up a Roadster. There's no question that the Ace is a more trebly/mid amp than the Roadster but as I had just picked up a Splawn Quick Rod I decided to trade the similarly voiced Ace for something a bit different. I would generally agree with your...

Just bought another similar amp and looking to move my ace - which is less than one year old and still has >4 years on the transferrable warranty. In excellent condition and comes with manual, foot switch and slip cover. Also welcome trade offers particularly for other heads - Boogie or...

    Roadster vs lonestar tones

My understanding is that the Roadster clean channel is the same as the Lonestar. Never compared them side-by-side - but I have come across some who feel the Lonestar cleans are a bit better.

Just how versatile is the Roadster?

I have been playing Roadsters in shops for months now and like the tones more and more every time. I currently play a Stiletto Ace head with a Recto 412 cab - play a wide variety of stuff from '60s right through to modern alt/rock - lots of classic/hard rock from '70s and '80s. Obviously the...

Is Mesa planning a refreshening of the Stiletto line?

I noticed recently two different Toronto-area stores offering Stilettos at reduced prices (Steve's and Long&McQuade). Does anyone have any insights to why that may be? My initial thoughts are perhaps Mesa is planning on updating the line - with a third channel maybe? It is unusual to see...

    stiletto with oversized recto cab

I use my stiletto ace with an oversized recto 412. Sounds pretty good to me - better than the avatar 212 (hellatone30/60 combo) that I was using before. The oversized nature of the cab ads some bass and helps tame the sometimes harsh treble of the ace - I find I'm able to run the treble more...

Is the ACE or Rectoverb way different than a Mark IV???

Having owned a Mark IV combo (now sold) and an Ace (which I still have), I can tell you that these are completely different amps and have to be dialed in completely differently. The Mark IV is definitely more versatile but has its own voicing which to me seems a bit less natural in some way (at...

Classic rock from a Mark IV?

Hey all - I am the proud owner of a Stiletto Ace head and a Mark IV combo. I have a very wide variety of musical tastes ranging from '60s stuff to modern hard rock and some modern metal but the guitar tone I love most is a classic rock / classic metal. Obviously I absolutely love the tone from...

    Underrated Stiletto

Actually I prefer the looks of the Ace head - sort of a classic "Marshall" type of sound vs. the "modern metal" looks of the Deuce...of course looks are easily altered by custom ordering...

    Question for Mark IV owners

You're not the only one to find the Stiletto treble over-bearing - I had to do quite a bit of tweaking before I got it more acceptable. First of all, I have the treble and presence dialed down to around 9:00 - 10:00 or so. What also helped a great deal is tube tweaking - I've had luck with...

    Question for Mark IV owners

I absolutely love my Mark IV combo as it is so versatile - but if it's crunch you're looking for there's better to be had elsewhere. I find I get a decent crunch from R2 with gain at 8, treble dimed, bass almost to 0, presence at around 8 and a boost from my Maxon OD-808. Still, though...

    MXR Graphic Eq...

Tried the MXR 6-band EQ in the loop of my Stiletto Ace, didn't like it, will be returning it.
