    NAMM News?

one of the guitar teachers i had in sydney knows randall smith and goes way back with mesa, and his advice was to never buy a new mesa model until it's been out a couple years haha

220V and Mesa amps in europe/Australia

pretty amazing how expensive they are in oz, i had a big debate with a guy from pro audio over email about how i thought they were gouging. i'll post it in its entirety maybe. i'm gonna use a 500w stepdown and see if i can get sherlock amps to send me a 240v tranny, i don't think rectos have...

Leave it run? turn if off? or Standby? between sessions? LLS

touching tubes is fine, but let em cool first. as far as leaving your amp on, it probably just depends on how long you want your tubes to last. just play a couple hours, turn it off, and spend the rest of the day on the computer :P

    Stiletto Ace/Deuce/Trident Differences

i think you might be a little misinformed on the nature of power and tubes - it's ok, i was too when i bought my triple recto (i wish'd gotten a dual and pulled a pair of tubes). to get a ~3db sound increase (sound doubles with every 3db) you have to 10x the wattage. so all other things equal...

    Avatar Cabinets

i got a 4x12 avatar with eminence v12l's in it, in 1999, for 150 + shipping. it stills sounds great and i'm getting ready to sell it for what i paid. i'd heartily recommend them.

    Triple Rec:Removing Tubes

i heard you shouldn't ever pull 4 power tubes out of a recto. but i've had 2 tubes + 1 rectifier pulled forever and had no problems.

    triple recto FX loop issue

hey all, was just messing around with a new EH delay i bought and noticed that my FX loop doesn't seem to be working on my TR. if i set the switch to "bypass loop" everything sounds fine, but if i use any of the other options (which would engage the solo and output controls, as well as the loop)...

    What's the difference b/w the Mesa tubes? (415, 430, 440...)

last time i checked the online store only has 440's for 6l6's. i'm not sure they have a page about discontinued tubes - http://mesa.stores.yahoo.net/tuavasdu.html they do have this though, but it's outdated by 2 years - http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/TubeReference/TubeRefGuide.html

    New Mesa Owner (newb warning)

i'm not sure it will hurt the amp, but the speakers, if voiced for certain frequencies, could be damaged. as far as i know amplifiers are not subject to frequency response, they just amplify whatever comes through. it's the physical tug of an 80hz bass note that can damage a guitar voiced...

retubing triple rectifer / pulling a duet

well the nice thing about putting el34's in a TR is that i get a little tighter and more midrange sound, while still retaining the recto voicing. 6l6's just sound too throaty for me, but i don't like marshalls either. anyways i think i might get the EH 6ca7, the reviews on those said they...
