They'll put whatever Carvin pickups you want in it. They won't install third party pickups but with the new rout it's not a big deal.

The groovy thing about the Edwards ES type guitars is that instead of laminate (plywood) bodies they are solid maple with a mahogany center block and neck. They are more prone to feedback as a result but that can be a fun effect and it's easy to control.

Their guitars are great. I own one. The resale issue doesn't seem to come into play. The carved tops seem to be reselling for within a couple hundred bucks of their original price.

It doesn't help remove the pre-amp it completely removes the pre-amp. You're going to be using the amp as a power amp only at that point.

If all you want is the OD channel on a SLO you'll save a ton of money if you just get an Avenger. It's just the overdrive channel and that's it. It's $1900 less expensive at about $1800 or so. Glad you love your Mark IV. I sure do like mine and can't wait to get my new tubes on Wednesday or so.

Get an ES-335 or Japanese copy of one. You'll thank youself for it.
