Which cabinet ... Lonestar or Rectifier 2X12?

I tried a recto cab with a Lonestar when I was looking for a 2x12 - sounded very compressed and 2 dimensional to me - I ended up with a THD - it's a ported back, which is definetely the way to go IMHO.

Lets see them Lone Star pics

They're THD speakers, made by Eminence. One based on a lead 80, the other a vintage 30, and both chemically aged to get rid of any new spikyness.

There's a few of us around, unfortunately there's not so many places to play - well, there are but unless you have the right clothes and haircut you ain't gonna get far....we can sure talk a good game though!

I can't say enough about the cab, really fantastic. Articulate, focused, sweet high, tight bottom end but still with enough breath to keep the vibe right, not too compressed - a perfect partnership...I could go on! I'm glad you've enjoyed visiting Glasgow - it's certainly quite a unique place...

    Cab for LSS HEad

I use a THD 2x12 with my LSC head - can't recommend it enough. 2 THD speakers made by eminence, 1 modelled on a Celestion V30, the other on a Lead80 I beleive. Tuned back, not too bassy, but tight focused and articulate. I love it! :D http://www.thdelectronics.com/product_page_212speaker.html...

boost for solos on a triple rec 2 channel??

I use a smart people factory ego booster pedal - it can be usedas a variable bass or treble booster as well as a clean boost - which is what I use it as. I find it really great for solos, thickens things up but doesn't affect tone. v. nice.. 8) http://www.smartpeoplefactory.com/

    lonestar versions

The 10watt feature is on the 2007 -> amps. I agree, the Lonestar IS an amazing amp. The most expressive clean/breakup I've ever played and thick, rich distortion - suits you sir :D

Question: Return knob settings (and definition of 'dime')

I run my loop return at about 1 o'clock. It seems to bring the amp to life, giving it a bit more gain and sparkle. I'm sure there's a better or more technical description for what it does, but thats the best a humble mesa beginner can muster  :D

    THD Cab for a Lonestar?

Hey all, The guitar store near me has a special on THD 2x12 cabs at the moment - £449 (which is cheap here in Scotland beleive it or not!) and I was thinking of buying one to replace my Marshall 1960B 4x12. It's for use with a Lonestar classic head and was just wondering if anyone had any...

    Stiletto Deuce - Pickup recommendation

How about a Duncan JB? I have one in my Les Paul - sounds tremendous through my Lonestar.

    Compressor - rackmount or stompbox?

    I use a T-Rex comp-nova. Great pedal and very transparent if that's what you're after. Comp-Nova

    pickups and pirates

My strat has a SD quarter pounder staggered in the bridge and sounded monster through my recto. Mids a plenty and good top - nothing too brittle just a nice bit of bite! Also retains a bit of 'strat' with still being a single coil if you're interested in that? You could also try Rio Grande's -...

    Time for a change?

Well, the deal is done! Tried out the LSC 2x12 and express 5:50 1x12 yesterday and was just smitten with the lonestar. It does the clean inot clean breakup so well with the most amazing, lush, sparkling, 3d, responsive channel 1 I've ever played - and channel 2's not so bad either! I had to have...

    Time for a change?

Thanks for the replies guys. I've just discovered that my local sound control have a lone star 2x12 in stock so methinks I'll stop by tomorrow and try it out. Not a head I know but I'm sure it'll give me a good idea....as far as the markIV goes it's a bit more problematic. Trying to find a...

    Time for a change?

Hi All, it's my first post after a lot of lurking so...be gentle if I say anything too stupid! I was inducted into the Mesa family about a month ago with the purchase of a solo 50 single recto. I was convinced I wanted a Cornford but after trying them out in the shop, the versatility of the 2...
