    MK II C+ on ebay

the counting is like this: - try to find a fully loaded C+ in excellent condition in the US - ship a Mark Combo with EV Speaker in a roadcase to Europe - take the total costs for that and add 8 % for customs - than add 19 % of the total sum for tax then you are there :( or be happy to...

    MK II C+ on ebay

it is not interesting for people living in US any more, because shipping costs, tax and customs is very high ´til it is in Europa. It only is interesting for people living in Europa. If you buy a nice one in US and add shipping costs, taxes and customs you will end up in this price area...

Hi, As the cabs have a big influence, too, I finaly own 4 open Boogie cabs and 4 Thiele. I have build a switching box, where I can switch between 4 speaker cabs by foot and there is allways load on the power amp of your tube baby (no load will damage the power amp). When I compare speakers, I...

Help- building my own IIC+ preamp

Hi, the cheapest way to get all the parts you need is to buy a Studio Preamp ! The Studio Pre is very close to the MK IIC+ if you turn down the gain a little bit. There is a big difference from which company the parts are, even one single resistor can change the sound. I own three loaded MK...

MK2b to MK2c+ "is mine 1 of the few"

Hello Jim, finaly I own three fully loaded MK IIC+ s and did own three others (100/60W, two 60W no EQ) but still my first one, which is the one I bought from you in Nov 2003 is the one I like most. As you verry correctly say: It sounds phenomenal thank you once more for selling this amp...

    Studio VS. Quad Preamps

I also compared the Studio Pre to the Quad Pre and had the same results. As I allways prefered the Quad´s 1st Channel and allways used Bass Shift and Pull Deep as I do on my MK IIC+s , I am completely pleased with the Studio Pre .... except one thing: the reverb. Quad uses two tanks, a...

Superb reverb in Quad Pre - allso possible in Mark Series ?

of cause it´s the circuit design that makes this great reverb possible. I had the two tanks parallel, like it is done in the Quad Preamp. So both reverb tanks get the same dry signal at the same time. In series would be a different thing, ´cause you reverb an allready reverbed signal ...

Superb reverb in Quad Pre - allso possible in Mark Series ?

I asked the techs at TAD (Tube Amp Doctor) about the risk of dammageing something, when I try out two reverb tanks. They sayed, that there is no risk, ´cause the transformer does work in a different way than an output transformer. You can use it without load also (disconnecting the reverb)...

Superb reverb in Quad Pre - allso possible in Mark Series ?

Is it like one should connect speakers to an amp? One 8 Ohms output needs four 8 Ohm speakers (in a row and parrallel) to get 8 Ohms again. Then I should use vour reverb tanks to try .... :o Or should I connect an 4 Ohm resistor to both of two reverb tanks. How strong should the resistors be?

Superb reverb in Quad Pre - allso possible in Mark Series ?

The reverb of the Quad Pre is the best tube driven reverb I ever heard. There is a big reverb tank, like in Mark series amps and a small one as used in Studio 22 connected together to get this extra deep, rich, full and warm type of reverb. The two tanks are working parralel and if you...

    mesa: american vs european models

the guys from TAD have been German Ruby Tubes sales distrebuter for a long time and founded TAD a few years ago. They still use old connections, I think.

    mesa: american vs european models

They look like they are made by the same company Mesa uses currently. as Mesa is useing HighClass components and so is TAD, it´s possible that the transformers come from the same production. They replace stock transformers of HighClass Amps (Boogie, Fender, Matchless ...). Maybe there is...

    mesa: american vs european models

Hi, I live in Europa, too. One week ago I recieved my third MK IIC+ and changed the power transformer, as I did with my first one. The second is a "worldwide" version with multi voltage stock. The transformers I use come from www.tubeampdoctor.com . They are quite big and replace Fender...

    Mark IV or Quad Pre?

Yes, and, if you use Mesa Boogie Satellite with EQ, there is a possibility to switch the EQ. But first of all it´s an effects send.

    Mark IV or Quad Pre?

look at the posts of boogiebabies, he is very knowledeging in electronical circuits and he discribed the tecnical difference a few times allready. The differences are very small, the B version (newer one) is sounding a little bit warmer and more smooth. There is no mark A or B on the amps, but...

    Mark IV or Quad Pre?

... in this situation, I´d do the following: buy a used MK IV for arround 1300,- to 1800,- Euros, maybe in german or british ebay. cancel the Gibson and chose an Epiphone for arround 450,- to 500,- Euros new. The difference between an Epiphone and a Gibson Standart is small. The difference...

    Mark IV or Quad Pre?

Mesa SimulClass 2:90 and VHT 2/50/2 are the best poweramps IMHO. MK IV is an all-in-one unit, very versatile and very good sounding. You can dial in three different sounds and switch between them. Using a Quad Pre you have to find compromises in settings, as you have on MK IIs or IIIs...

boogie mark series fan + heat question

Hi, I skrewed an aluminiumbar into the back of my Top, where twoo little fans are fixed to. They are just behind the tubes and are electrically connected in a row. A 12V DC Transformer is feeding them and each is getting 6 V this way. The fans are designed for PC and are very quiet, even...
