In the end I took them out and put the old Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC in there. I guess my amp wasn't made for 6L6GCs. It wasn't normal that they didn't fit flush. Are the Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC good tubes? They were in them when I bought it.
I don't understand your question.
The pins don't go all the way in and I don't know if I am supposed do something other than just sticking them in so that they fit.
Is this normal? I've look at other amps and it appears to be normal that there is maybe half an inch of the pins sticking out from...
I got new tubes for my Mark IIC+ ( Mesa 6L6GC STR 440s) and when I put them in, I noticed that I cannot stick them in all the way unlike the previous 5881 tubes that were there previously. Is this normal?
They work and sound great though.
I have a non GEQ and it can do everything. Metal tone is a very subjective thing. I like a lot of mids and mid gain for metal tones.
If you want to sound like Dream Theater and Metallica, putting an EQ in the loop would get you there, easily.
Hey man, thanks for the reply. It's actually only the lead channel, the clean is fine. Also, I play it very low, almost on zero on the master volume, so that might be the cause. I wish I could play it louder, but I live in an apartment....
I started getting a volume drop on the lead channel of my IIC+. The volume fluctuates. Does this mean the power tubes are done or perhaps I need to clean the Effects Loop? I tried plugging in a cord in the send and return of the EFX loop and it didn't change anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have a non-geq IIC+ and have to disagree with most people who claim that you need an EQ pedal to do metal. This is totally false, my C+ can do metal in spades.
Here are my settings:
Volume1= 7 (pull)
Treble= 8 (pull)
Bass= 5
Mid= 8
Master 1= Your choice (pull)
Lead drive= 4 (pull)

Hello everyone. I have been lurking around for quite some time and finally registered to this great board.
I wanted to ask the experts here about ohms. Is it safe to use my 8 ohm IIC+ head into a 16 ohm Orange Cab? Some people say this is worse due to the flyback voltages but I just wanted to...
