    common problem...

From reading other threads, the problem I encountered twice at a gig last Saturday is pretty common: amp is on, all lights work, but no sound. I tried everything short of changing tubes - but eventually had to leave the amp off for a couple minutes then fired it back up - then everything came...

Mark v Dies for no reason

This happened to me too!! On Saturday night - second time gigging with the amp - twice during the show it died. All lights were on but no sound. I had to turn off the amp and couple of times before it started working again. Very frustrating. Would a bad pre-amp tube make it cut out...

Early arrival! MKV combo-new amp day

Congrats, Deadfall. I use my combo with a 2X12 and it sounds awesome (though I was suprised how good it sounds by itself as well). Adding the 2X12 adds just the little bit extra.

    6L6's vs EL34's

+1 - I ordered the two sets of the Mesa El34's and they sound great.

    6L6's vs EL34's

I just swapped out the 6L6's for EL34's and I must say I like the 34's much better. I was always a Marshall guy in the past so maybe my ear is just more accustomed to the mid-grind of the EL34's and, therefore, sounds better to me. To me the highs seem less piercing and the lows less boomy...

    Question on swapping out tubes

I have 2 sets of matched Mesa EL34's on their way to me and should be here this morning. I want to swap all 4 out in my Mark V to see what the tonal differences are compared to the 6L6's. Is there any special way to change them - meaning should one pair of matched tubes go in the two middle...

New Mark V combo - strange thing happened

Thanks, MesaGod666. It seems to be ok now. Reset everything to normal setting and turned back on a few times and gradually brought up to gig volume and it didn't happen again. I'm hoping it's ok and will keep breaking it in slowly. If I can get away with it, I'll fire her up later today...

New Mark V combo - strange thing happened

I just got my brand new - out of the box Mark V combo. The best amp I've ever heard. However, something strange just happened. I was messing around with the settings - and specifically - the Solo setting. I have the amp on 90 watts / channel 3 / Mark IV setting. I inadvertantly had the Solo...

Triple Rectifier Doing Classic Rock Tone

I was totally shocked on how good it sounded.....last night I jammed some classic rock stuff with some friends for the first time in my "new" jam room. Used channel 1 on the normal setting (not "pushed"), cranked the gain all the way and had the most incredible cruchy-classic rock tone. Used a...

New to forum and new to Mesa Boogie

It's great to be here! I've always wanted one and finaly did it - yesterday I bought my first Mesa Boogie. A Triple Rectifier. I always thought I was a Marshall guy but NOT anymore. I plugged in the Triple Rec last night, put the settings to the "sample" settings in the user manual and...
