WTB Anvil cases MarkIII combo and ext. For sale Thiele w/Ev

Yep, I've got used ATA road cases for both a Mark-series combo (narrow body style) and Mesa compact 1x12, like the Thiele-ported cab. They are only gently used; never flown, only rode around in my SUV. These are not the flimsy 1/4" ply wanna-be cases often seen on the 'bay, but are full ATA...

    WTB: Mesa Recto Pre

I was just getting ready to post mine here; haven't even snapped the pics yet. Send me a PM if you'd like, and in the mean time I'll get it out of my studio rack and get some pics taken. -WireNut

Converting a MK IV combo to head: results

Cool, finishing is something I've been experimenting with as well. For all the interior doors and wood trim I've done lately, I've used a treatment of Daly's Benite followed by 3-4 coats of Daly's oil. This has come out very nice. I used this on a desk I built, and it has held up very well...

Converting a MK IV combo to head: results

Thanks, that is good to know. The part I wondered about was how to deal with the angle at the top of the cab. I wasn't sure how the dovetails would lay out, getting the bevel on the top cut so it matched well, etc. Turns out it was pretty easy on the prototype without dovetails. I really...

Converting a MK IV combo to head: results

Thanks. A nice hardwood cab with proper joinery would be a great project. Part of the reason I built this proto first was to work out the dimensions and get the chassis mounting holes, etc. all lined up. The instructions for the dovetail jig I'm looking at (Rockler) imply you might need one...

Converting a MK IV combo to head: results

Thanks, this was a fun project (and it took several evenings...weeks, really, given all the home remodeling I was doing at the same time). I'm glad you reminded me about the logo. I'll take the one off the combo.

Converting a MK IV combo to head: results

I've seen several folks post regarding converting their combos to heads. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time, as the combo is just too clumsy to move easily. I finally took the plunge and made myself a prototype head. I'd like to re-do this someday with a nice hardwood and...

    Christmas Tunes - All Boogie

Thanks, guys - you are very kind. I've heard some smokin' players on this board - very humbling. Your comments are very much appreciated. Yeah, I played all the instruments, did the arrangements, engineering, "mastering", washed the dog, blah, blah - with the notable exception of the piano...

    Christmas Tunes - All Boogie

Somebody was asking about Christmas clips. Here's a bunch of arrangements from a CD I did for a charity project a couple of years ago. All the electric guitar tracks are Mesa amps - various combinations of a MK-IV combo, Triaxis, Recto Pre, 20/20, and a Thiele 1x12 cab I built. I also used...

Best Rackmount processor for my Boogie

Yep, +1 for the TC rack processors. I use a G-Major in my gig rig, and a G-Force in the studio rack. Great stuff, and I don't notice any tone degradation at all. I tend to use efx on the subtle side, but I love what the TC stuff can do.

    mark iv channel switching

I have to second the notion that this setup works great. I used 3 relay modules (forget the model no.) from MIDI Solutions to switch channels on my MK-IV, controlled by a GC Pro, with a G-Major in the EFX loop. Anyone interested in doing this should note that the MIDI relays can't be mounted...

    Do you clean your nuts?

I've used the same method for many years now. I've read several articles and/or books where well known guitar techs and luthiers alike agree, graphite (pencil lead) is the way to go. I used pencil lead in the past - either by coloring the edge of a matchbook or business card, then running...

Rec Pre into a Mark series power section.

I do this with several Mesa pieces - it works fine, sounds great, and is very flexible, if a bit complicated. I have a MK-IV, Triaxis, Recto Pre, and 20/20, all switchable through a DMC GCX. The way I configured mine I can use any one preamp with any or all of the 3 power amps, each driving...
