2x12 Cab for Lonestar Classic Head

Hi Matt and congrats for your graduation (your gift too, of course! ). I had to face the same thing when I got my LSC head and I ended up with a 2x12" Mesa Stiletto cab, closed back with Vintage 30 speakers. I also tried an open back configuration building myself a back panel, but I...

Good delay unit for use in effects loop?

...agree on this, surely a great pick in a very affordable price range (reviev + video). I'd also check out the Wampler ones (Faux Tape Echo or the Analog Echo which is exactly the same but without the tape modulation)...think they sound both pretty good but not so cheap. The only drawback to...

Getting High Gain out of Lone Star

Cannot agree more on this, mine (v3) sounds GREAT with the LSC! I wouldn't really call "high gain" what comes out, but it's still a pretty hot overdriven tone.

Getting High Gain out of Lone Star

lol  Anyway the pedal sounds pretty good...wonder how it compares to a Fulltone OCD v3 (HP mode) like the one I have on my board right now. That one's a very hot box too, but I wouldn't really call it high gain while for example the Triple Wreck from Wampler seems to break that "wall"...

Getting High Gain out of Lone Star

...true that...I get pretty good results pushing my LSC with a Fulltone Fat Boost 3, a Xotic AC Booster and a Fulltone OCD v3 but I cannot really say what comes out is a "high gain" tone. Probably I'm gonna try the Wampler Triple Wreck as soon as I can just to see if I can break the "wall"...

    Lonestar Classic tubes advice

...sounds great man! Think I'll go for them when it's time to retube my amp. Thanks for sharing and feel free to write more if you like...guess this thread can be really useful for all the LS folks out there!

Getting High Gain out of Lone Star

...right now I'd say the Wampler Triple Wreck. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds like a beast, plus it's designed to "emulate" the sound of a Rectifier more or less, so you can get both sides of Mesa keeping one of their greatest amps so far. Have a look! Wampler Pedals: Triple...

Are there any weird problems with getting the foot switch

...can anyone help on this? Thanks a lot!

    Lonestar Classic tubes advice

...thanks man, I'd really like to know how Harma tubes sound in comparison with the stock Mesa and also with the "classic" ones like Mullard, Philips, etc. ...hope to hear from you soon

    Lonestar Classic tubes advice

...nothing yet, I'm still searching. Right now I think I'll keep things simple picking one of those Watfordvalves kits for Lonestar; I don't like JJs so I won't go for Eurotubes, but if you do that would be another great choice. I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of good options out there in...

    Booster pedal suggestions?

I had to face the same "trouble" and I ended up switching my BB Preamp for the AC Booster: a lot less compressed but still warm and overall balanced, not too much bright or mid-range oriented like some OD or tubescreamer type of pedals. You could also look for Barber LTD (heard really good...

    LONESTAR AS A DO-IT-ALL ???

...of course you won't get the exact same sounds on a Lonestar as your Fender or Marshall, BUT considering your tastes I think you won't be disappointed with a LS Classic. You'll easily cover blues and rock without any problem, plus it takes stompboxes really good if you need more tones "on the...

    question about the drive channel

...just not to be misunderstood, I didn't want to mean that CH2 sounds bad...I love the LS as it is, my only trouble is to find a spot for CH2 considering MY needs

    question about the drive channel

...cool, another passenger of the same boat!!! Even if I play a different genre (rock/alt.rock), I completely understand your troubles...in fact I'm using it mostly as a single channel amp with pedals right now. Sure a lot of guys round here would consider it as an heresy or something...

    question about the drive channel

eheheh definitely you're not alone on this! Well, I think that tone quest can be really frustrating if you take it in the wrong way but also a great chance to experiment, learn and if you're lucky even find something unique. Talking about the Lonestar, the path is not that easy for...

    question about the drive channel

...sure it matters and in my opinion the tonal differences are pretty noticeable. In my experience I found out that keeping the "Gain" knob higher than the "Drive" one (just like MESA suggests in the LS manual) will favour the hi-end frequencies making the sound a little harsh at some point...

How much gain is the LSC capable of?

...nono, those demos are not mine  Yeah I agree, great vids! Helped me a lot when I was looking for my LSC

Preference? - open back cab or closed for Lonestar head?

You're welcome  Well, I think it will work in the opposite way...at least in my case I felt like the open back configuration lost some bass frequencies and made the overall sound a little more bright and "grainy", less compact. Guess it would work a lot different considering the...

How much gain is the LSC capable of?

Hi Lostcause, first of all let me link you a couple of vids showing the LS dirt side: Mesa Boogie Lonestar demo 2 - overdrive channel 2 Mesa Boogie Lonestar demo 3 - hard rock, channel 2 Mesa Boogie Lone Star Demo 2 I own a LSC 50/100w head and I agree with everything's already been said here...
